Parking

Things you need to know when parking in Miami Beach:

  • All parking is paid. Most streets have a one or two machines where you can pay to park. (Watch this video to learn how to use them)
  • If you’re on a street and you don’t see meters or a machine to pay, you’re most likely in a residential area and you can’t park there unless you have a special sticker.
  • Parking lots also have meters or machines to pay.
  • Unlike street and lot parking, where you have to pre-pay, if you park at a garage, you’ll pay at the end of your stay. That is, when you enter the garage you’ll receive a ticket. Take it with you (but put it on a safe place – if you lose it, it can be a problem) Once you’re ready to leave, you’ll insert your ticket into a machine located near the entrances and exits of the garage and they will tell you how much you owe. Also, parking in garages is cheaper than on the street or at parking lots.
  • If you have internet access on your smart phone, you can download ParkMobile, a free app that lets you pay and extend your parking stay from wherever you are using your credit card. Plus, the app will send you a text message when your parking session is about to expire.
  • Street parking is free from 3am to 9am.
  • Parking is enforced every day (yes, that means Sundays and holidays too)
  • You must always park head on.
  • You can park anywhere on the street as long as the curb is not painted.
  • If you forget to pay and are parked properly (not in a restricted or forbidden area) you’ll get a ticket. Don’t worry, you WON’T GET TOWED.
